Memory Making at it’s Best

I’m a photographer through and through, and for me, life without photographs is like a museum without artefacts.

Life is full of stories and special moments, and they are meant to be treasured.

The Instax range of cameras is an excellent way to capture life’s moments, and honestly, nothing beats a printed photograph.

The Mini 11 is an awesome companion to kickstart your journey into instant photography. The moment it catches your eye, it screams fun. It’s cute, comes in gorgeous pastel colours and is affordable too.

It’s an analog camera that prints every photograph it takes, and in doing so, creates one unique, one of a kind, instant print the size of a credit card.

There are no digital files, no reprints. Just one unique print every time. And because of this, it really influences your experience of taking photos.

The cell phone changed how we take photos, and especially how many we take. Snap, snap, snap goes the shutter. Let’s take another one just to make sure we’ve got a good one. And why not. It’s easy. It’s free. And storage space is relatively cheap.

But just like a piece of art, its value is very connected to how much if it there is. That is true for its monetary and emotional value too. When you create prints of your memories, you will find yourself stopping to think. It makes you more conscious of the importance the moment. You also learn quickly that you don’t really need 5 of the same, unless of course, you want to share or give your prints away.

Using an instant camera brings a kind of mindfulness with it that is very therapeutic, hugely rewarding and leaves you with that fuzzy feeling inside that makes you want to do it again, and again, and again.

The Mini 11 is awesome because it’s – well, Mini. The dimensions of the Mini print are what we are used to and it’s great for selfies in portrait orientation or for group shots in landscape. Its automatic exposure works really well, as does the selfie mode. This camera really puts the word “instant” into your photography. You just have to turn it on, pose, smile, click. And voilà! There’s your awesome instant print.

I love the look and feel of the tones and colours in the prints. They feel retro, hip and modern, all at the same time.

Is there anything sweeter than that? You bet!

An even more amazing thing that happens pretty much automatically once you hold this unique print in your hands – is that you want to display it. I don’t know anyone who’s received an instant print and put it in a drawer somewhere and forgotten about it. Most people’s instax prints are shown off and celebrated on fridge doors or cherished inside a wallet. C’mon, be honest, yours is there too!

Such is the power of an instant print.

And so, now, are you still pondering whether you should get one, two or even three?

This is quite an amazing camera, and now we can choose which foto to print is even more value. No more unwanted pics. Don’t even talk about the recording option shown last week.
