What an awesome time we had! This shoot was extra special, firstly because Nkosazana is a dear friend of mine. I met her when she was still working side-by-side with Mom Carol at Ikageng. She had asked me years ago already if I could photograph her wedding when the time comes… and I was so thrilled.
Then the time came… and I had already been booked for the date they had scheduled their wedding for. I was very disappointed that I would not be able to spend their day with them so we arranged an engagement shoot instead. I am so glad we did. It was such a fabulous day – for all of us.
I managed to arrange a special location as well which made me even happier – and so, all smiles, I was ready to roll…
Nkosazana was concerned that the both of them were rather nervous as they didn’t consider themselves to be “natural posers”. With a little bit of encouragement I think they did really well!
They started to relax and enjoy themselves!
… and then they got REALLY comfortable…
… and then the wheels came off… well, sort of…
A day after we parted ways I received this email from Nkosazana:
“Thank you so much for the time that you spent with us – showing us all kinds of poses plus seeing you again was really great. I had forgotten HOW talented you are until I saw the wedding photos from the last wedding – they are so special. I must really say that your pictures tell a story, it really creates a mood that connects you to the picture.”
… and another one followed shortly after I had handed over their images to them:
“Thank you so much for the photos, THEY ARE GREAT!!!!, I’m excited about them. They are really…really… beautiful. I don’t even know how to express how I feel about them.
The collage has really captured all the highlights, I could not even work yesterday because of all the excitement – Ryan and I are truly grateful for all the photos, your time, your energy and patience with us.
Thank you … thank you… thank you…. so much dear. I’m out of words – yesterday when I looked at the photographs I had butterflies in my stomach and was really all smiles in the office.”
I feel grateful and blessed to be able to share moments like this through the work that I do.
Thank you so much, Nkosazana for all the kind words – I feel truly humbled, and inspired!
