I almost feel weird to be here… like I should walk around with a feather duster and clear the cyber dust first – it’s been so long… ok, let me run some updates, i’ll be right back…
Alrighty – in this month, where so much was planned, many things turned out differently to what was expected – a sign that sometimes, we need to surrender, take a step back, reassess and try again.
So I did.
Thank you for being patient and allowing me the space to breathe, spring clean and recharge. It was vital for my soul and heaven for my spirit.
While away, I dipped into the world of Black & White Photography with Ilford Delta Push Process, our black & white recommendation of the month for storytelling and enjoyed the simplicity that photographing without colour can be at times:
Shooting at ISO12800 (which is called for in the recipe settings) is an interesting process and I loved the fact that this recipe pushes against traditional boundaries. Finding myself in a dark cathedral was obviously a great place to be for this but I didn’t stop there. I used the recipe as my default black & white recipe for the month.
I feel that this recipe is a good, “tame” allrounder, delivering classic black & white aesthetics. At times it seems to lack a bit of punch but it sure is loyal and competent. If you’re looking for something “stronger” you can always opt for the popular Kodak Tri-X 400 which was discussed at length in the first episode of Season 02 of SOOC Live and which I wrote about in a previous article.
