STR.CRD 2012

The annual leading urban youth culture calendar event in the areas of fashion, music, sneakers, graffiti, skate and dance in Africa back at Maboneng Precinct. So I took to the streets to see what goes down when sneakers, BMX, fashion and dance come together. It went something like this:

The coolest 4-Wheelers EVER!!!!

I don’t think I am a “sneaker-head” but my heart sings when I see these!!!

… but there is a complete sneaker culture which went straight past me…

A serious dance competition also went down – these guys were one of the groups competing for the R 20 000 prize money!

Totally fascinated what those fearless bikers get up to:

Serious sneaker-heads must have been in sneaker-heaven – wherever I looked sneakers, sneakers, sneakers…. not really my cup of tea but for those red jobs maybe…

… and maybe these ones… ??? …

And I want this pink guy!!!!

The guys from Gooder have created their own collection of miniature sneakers… how cool is that?

The grey Nike-sneaker-boot-shoe is a Nike Mag, inspired by the shoes the professor wore in “Back to the Future”. It’s a serious collectors item and easily goes for R 40,000… WHAT???

The mini-sneakers are hand-moulded and hand-painted… that’s serious art that!

And then the sun started to set and I felt very sneakered-out… what a day it was though! I had no idea all this stuff was out there… Thanks to the guys at Gooder my day was a very cool learning curve – I feel totally BUCK now!!!
